Chamuco Soul Robusto

I met the Gentleman who is starting up this line at the RTDA 2006 Event in Las Vegas and from what I remember I believe he has been making this cigar for a few years. It is the first time I have ever heard of this line and I was fortunate enough to be given a few samples. I am a sucker to try any cigar whether the name is well known or not. To me a true cigar aficionado is someone who tries every cigar, not stick to their favorites and snub the rest.

I first lit up the Chamuco Soul Robusto on Thursday afternoon and my beverage of choice was a glass of Casa De Caballos 2002 Paso Robles, excellent wine. As for the cigar, it was interesting. I was told the Chamuco Soul ranges between a mild to a medium cigar and in my humble opinion I believe it to be more of a mild smoke; however, it did have quite a flavor to it. The first initial taste is something I have never tasted before in a cigar. It was quite different. It wasn’t bitter, harsh or bad… It was just different. As I smoked it I kept trying to place the elements of taste but, I still can’t put my finger on it. I wouldn’t say it was an excellent cigar, I would say a fair one. As I got closer to the end the taste never seem to waiver or go bad, it was consistent. The thought that keeps crossing my mind as I reflect upon this cigar is that I felt the flavor was missing something. Like when someone gives you a delicious looking chocolate chip cookie, before taking that first bite you are envisioning the sweet, chocolate taste and after that first bite it isn’t sweet at all because it is one of those sugar free cookies. Would I recommend this cigar to others? I would say yes, only because, I would like to hear what others might say about it. I did like it and would be willing to smoke it again. If any of you have had a chance to smoke this cigar please send me your comments and tell me your thoughts.

‘nuff said.
